DSST (DANTES Subject Standardized Tests) is a credit-by-exam program accepted by more than 1,900 colleges. You study a college-level subject, pass one exam, and earn real college credit without sitting through a full semester course. DSST exams are scored on a 200–500 scale and most pass at around 400.
You still earn the credit. Every prep plan includes a free ACE- or NCCRS-approved backup course in the same subject. If the exam doesn't go your way, you complete the backup course and earn transferable college credit through that path instead — at no extra cost. That's why we say credit either way.
