CLEP Credits at Finlandia University

Finlandia University was a private university in Hancock, Michigan, in the Upper Peninsula of the state. It was originally founded as Suomi College and later became Finlandia University. The institution was closely associated with the Finnish-American community in the Copper Country region.

Finlandia offered undergraduate programs in a range of liberal arts and professional fields, with a campus identity shaped by small-school instruction and community-based learning. Because the university has closed, current program availability should be verified through archived or historical sources rather than assumed from older catalogs. Its historical strengths included a liberal arts orientation and a distinctive cultural heritage.

For CLEP and transfer-credit purposes, Finlandia should be treated as a closed institution, so any current credit policies are no longer active. Students seeking to use prior coursework, CLEP scores, or transfer credit connected to Finlandia would need to confirm how records are handled through the institution’s successor arrangements or relevant state and accreditor channels. No current admissions or registrar policy should be assumed without direct verification.

Students may also have options involving CLEP®, DSST, AP, ACE, or NCCRS credits, depending on Finlandia University's current policies. Not every alternative credit source is automatically accepted, so verify eligibility before completing a course or exam.

Approved credits may count toward general education, major requirements, electives, or other degree requirements depending on the evaluation. Finlandia University transfer credits should therefore be reviewed against the specific degree program.
