CLEP Credits at Southern Vermont College

Southern Vermont College was a private liberal arts college in Bennington, Vermont, in the United States. It operated on a hilltop campus overlooking the town and served undergraduate students until it closed in 2019. The college was known for its small-campus setting and close connection to the Bennington community.

The college offered undergraduate liberal arts and professional programs, with an emphasis on individualized study and experiential learning. Its academic offerings included majors in areas such as business, criminal justice, education, and the sciences. Because the institution was small, students often experienced close faculty interaction and a campus environment centered on undergraduate teaching.

For CLEP and transfer-credit purposes, Southern Vermont College should be treated as a closed institution. That means current applicants cannot enroll there, and any credit evaluation would have to be handled through the receiving institution or the appropriate records custodian. Students seeking to transfer prior coursework or exam credit should confirm how another college or university will accept credits earned at Southern Vermont College or through CLEP.

Students may also have options involving CLEP®, DSST, AP, ACE, or NCCRS credits, depending on Southern Vermont College's current policies. Not every alternative credit source is automatically accepted, so verify eligibility before completing a course or exam.

Approved credits may count toward general education, major requirements, electives, or other degree requirements depending on the evaluation. Southern Vermont College transfer credits should therefore be reviewed against the specific degree program.
