About the university

About Medaille College

Medaille College was a private institution in Buffalo, New York. It was founded in 1937 and operated for many years as a small, student-centered college serving the Western New York region. The college later became Medaille University before closing in 2023.

Medaille offered undergraduate and graduate programs across areas such as business, education, health professions, and the liberal arts. It was known for career-oriented study, small classes, and programs designed to support adult learners as well as traditional undergraduates. Because the institution no longer operates, current program availability should be verified through archival or transfer records rather than the former website.

  • Private institution that served students in Buffalo, New York
  • Career-focused programs in fields such as business, education, and health professions
  • Small-college environment with an emphasis on individualized attention
  • Regionally accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education
  • Closed in 2023, so current enrollment and policy information is no longer active
Transfer credit policy

How Transfer Credits Work at Medaille College

For CLEP and transfer-credit purposes, Medaille should be treated as a former institution rather than an active receiving school. Any credit-by-exam or transfer-credit policies that applied when the college was open would have been set by its academic offices and registrar, but those policies are not reliably current now. Students seeking to use Medaille coursework or exam credit should confirm acceptance with the receiving institution.

Students may also have options involving CLEP®, DSST, AP, ACE, or NCCRS credits, depending on Medaille College's current policies. Not every alternative credit source is automatically accepted, so verify eligibility before completing a course or exam.

Approved credits may count toward general education, major requirements, electives, or other degree requirements depending on the evaluation. Medaille College transfer credits should therefore be reviewed against the specific degree program.

Transfer tip: Check your transfer credit evaluation and compare accepted credits with your Medaille College degree requirements before planning additional coursework.
