Admissions Strategy Advisor · TransferCredit.org
Kopan led an international school in Chicago for twelve years, and the part of the work he loved most was sitting down with a rising senior and their parents and building a real plan — not a hope, not a shortlist of dream schools, but a plan that accounted for budget, realistic acceptances, and what the student actually wanted to do with their life.
After a long run in Chicago he relocated to Toronto, where he now splits his time between admissions research and advising students directly — mostly international families trying to place a child in a US university without losing their mind or their savings account. That combination of classroom years and current-year research makes his writing here unusually grounded; he's rarely writing about something he hasn't actually seen a student go through.
He's patient, thorough, and quietly opinionated — the kind of advisor who'll tell you when your Plan A isn't going to work and help you find a Plan B that is.
