CLEP Credits at University of Maryland Global Campus

University of Maryland Global Campus is a public university headquartered in Adelphi, Maryland, in the College Park area. It serves adult and military-affiliated learners through a largely online model, with a long history of offering flexible access to higher education. The institution is part of the University System of Maryland.

UMGC offers a wide range of undergraduate and graduate programs, with especially strong emphasis on career-oriented fields such as business, cybersecurity, information technology, health-related areas, and liberal arts. The university is known for serving working adults and for designing many programs around flexibility, online delivery, and applied learning. It also has a substantial presence in military education and workforce-focused credentials.

UMGC is generally transfer-friendly and accepts a broad range of transfer credit, including prior college coursework and other forms of evaluated learning. For CLEP specifically, students should check UMGC's current credit-by-exam policies because acceptance can depend on the exam, score, and degree program. As with many universities, credit policies can change, so official transfer and testing pages are the best source for current rules.

Students may also have options involving CLEP®, DSST, AP, ACE, or NCCRS credits, depending on UMGC's current policies. Not every alternative credit source is automatically accepted, so verify eligibility before completing a course or exam.

Approved credits may count toward general education, major requirements, electives, or other degree requirements depending on the evaluation. University of Maryland Global Campus transfer credits should therefore be reviewed against the specific degree program.
