Lake Area Technical College is a public technical college in Watertown, South Dakota. It serves students seeking career-focused education and workforce training in the region. The college is known for hands-on learning and practical preparation for employment.

The college offers technical and career programs across a range of fields, with an emphasis on applied instruction and industry-aligned training. Its strengths are typically in occupational and workforce-oriented areas rather than traditional liberal arts study. Students often choose Lake Area Technical College for direct pathways into skilled careers.

For transfer and credit-by-exam purposes, Lake Area Technical College is a two-year institution, so students should confirm how CLEP or other prior-learning credits apply to their specific program. Credit acceptance can vary by department, course equivalency, and degree requirements. Students are generally advised to review the college's transfer-credit policies before taking an exam for credit.

Students may also have options involving CLEP®, DSST, AP, ACE, or NCCRS credits, depending on LATC's current policies. Not every alternative credit source is automatically accepted, so verify eligibility before completing a course or exam.

Approved credits may count toward general education, major requirements, electives, or other degree requirements depending on the evaluation. Lake Area Technical College transfer credits should therefore be reviewed against the specific degree program.
