Richland Community College is a public community college in Decatur, Illinois, serving students in central Illinois. The college is part of the Illinois community college system and serves a regional student population.

Richland provides academic pathways in liberal arts, career and technical education, health-related fields, and other workforce programs. Community colleges like Richland are designed to support both transfer preparation and immediate career training. Students can use the college for general education coursework, credential completion, and continuing education.

For CLEP and transfer-credit purposes, Richland Community College should be treated as a transfer-oriented public two-year institution, but specific credit-by-exam acceptance depends on the college's current policies. CLEP scores and other prior-learning credits are often evaluated through the registrar or admissions office, and acceptance can vary by exam, score, and degree program. Students should confirm how any exam credit will apply before testing.

Students may also have options involving CLEP®, DSST, AP, ACE, or NCCRS credits, depending on RCC's current policies. Not every alternative credit source is automatically accepted, so verify eligibility before completing a course or exam.

Approved credits may count toward general education, major requirements, electives, or other degree requirements depending on the evaluation. Richland Community College transfer credits should therefore be reviewed against the specific degree program.
