CLEP Credits at Carson Newman College

Carson-Newman College, now Carson-Newman University, is a private Christian liberal arts institution in Jefferson City, Tennessee. It is affiliated with the Tennessee Baptist Convention and serves students in East Tennessee and beyond. The campus is located in Jefferson City, near the foothills of the Smoky Mountains.

The university offers undergraduate and graduate study across a range of liberal arts, professional, and pre-professional fields. It is known for combining classroom learning with a faith-based educational mission and for emphasizing service, leadership, and community engagement. Specific program offerings can change over time, so prospective students should consult the current academic catalog for the most accurate list.

For CLEP and transfer credit purposes, Carson-Newman evaluates prior learning through its own academic policies rather than automatically accepting every exam or course. Credit-by-exam and transfer credit decisions depend on the subject, score, course equivalency, and degree requirements. Students should confirm in advance whether a CLEP exam or outside course will apply to their intended program.

Students may also have options involving CLEP®, DSST, AP, ACE, or NCCRS credits, depending on C-N's current policies. Not every alternative credit source is automatically accepted, so verify eligibility before completing a course or exam.

Approved credits may count toward general education, major requirements, electives, or other degree requirements depending on the evaluation. Carson-Newman College transfer credits should therefore be reviewed against the specific degree program.
