CLEP Exams at Elon College

Elon College is the former name of Elon University, a private university in Elon, North Carolina. The institution is located in the town of Elon, in Alamance County, and serves undergraduate and graduate students. It is known for a residential campus environment and a strong emphasis on engaged learning.

Elon offers a broad range of undergraduate majors and graduate programs through its schools and colleges, with particular strengths in liberal arts, business, communications, education, health sciences, and law. The university is widely recognized for experiential learning, including study abroad, internships, research, and service opportunities. Its academic model emphasizes close faculty-student interaction and hands-on learning.

For CLEP and transfer-credit purposes, Elon University is the relevant institution name rather than the historical name Elon College. Students considering credit by exam or transfer credit should review Elon’s current transfer-credit and credit-by-examination policies, since acceptance depends on the university’s rules and the specific course or exam. CLEP credit is not automatically guaranteed and is typically evaluated within the context of the student’s program and academic requirements.

Students may also have options involving CLEP®, DSST, AP, ACE, or NCCRS credits, depending on Elon University's current policies. Not every alternative credit source is automatically accepted, so verify eligibility before completing a course or exam.

Approved credits may count toward general education, major requirements, electives, or other degree requirements depending on the evaluation. Elon College transfer credits should therefore be reviewed against the specific degree program.
