CLEP Exams at Houghton University

Houghton University is a private Christian university in Houghton, New York, in the western part of the state. It is affiliated with the Wesleyan Church and serves undergraduate and graduate students in a rural campus setting. The university emphasizes faith-based learning and a residential college experience.

Houghton offers a range of undergraduate majors and graduate programs across the arts and sciences, business, education, music, and ministry-related fields. It is known for combining liberal arts study with professional preparation and for offering opportunities such as internships, research, and performance or service experiences. The university also has a long-standing reputation for music and for integrating Christian faith with academics.

For transfer and credit-by-exam purposes, Houghton University is the kind of institution that typically evaluates prior college work and standardized exam credit through its admissions and registrar processes. CLEP credit acceptance can vary by subject, score, and degree program, so students should confirm applicability before testing. Because policies can change, the most reliable source is the university’s current transfer-credit and exam-credit guidance.

Students may also have options involving CLEP®, DSST, AP, ACE, or NCCRS credits, depending on Houghton University's current policies. Not every alternative credit source is automatically accepted, so verify eligibility before completing a course or exam.

Approved credits may count toward general education, major requirements, electives, or other degree requirements depending on the evaluation. Houghton University transfer credits should therefore be reviewed against the specific degree program.
