CLEP Exams at Berklee Online

Berklee Online is the online division of Berklee College of Music, based in Boston, Massachusetts. It offers distance-learning music education through Berklee’s online platform rather than as a separate residential campus. The school serves students who want Berklee coursework and credentials in a flexible online format.

Its academic offerings focus on music and music-related fields such as performance, songwriting, production, composition, music business, and related professional studies. Berklee Online is known for drawing on Berklee faculty and Berklee-developed curriculum, with an emphasis on contemporary music industry skills and practical musicianship. Because it is part of Berklee, its strengths are closely tied to the college’s broader reputation in modern music education.

For transfer and credit-by-exam context, Berklee Online is not a CLEP-granting institution in the way a traditional college might be, and credit policies should be checked carefully for the specific program. Students who want to use CLEP, transfer, or prior-learning credit should confirm whether the receiving Berklee Online program accepts that credit and under what conditions. Policies can differ by course, degree, and academic standing.

Students may also have options involving CLEP®, DSST, AP, ACE, or NCCRS credits, depending on Berklee Online's current policies. Not every alternative credit source is automatically accepted, so verify eligibility before completing a course or exam.

Approved credits may count toward general education, major requirements, electives, or other degree requirements depending on the evaluation. Berklee Online transfer credits should therefore be reviewed against the specific degree program.
