CLEP Exams at Xavier University of Louisiana

Xavier University of Louisiana is a private, Catholic historically Black university in New Orleans, Louisiana. It is the only Catholic HBCU in the United States and is located in the city’s Gert Town neighborhood. The university serves undergraduate and graduate students in a mission shaped by Catholic and social justice traditions.

Xavier offers a range of undergraduate and graduate programs through its colleges and schools, with especially strong reputations in the sciences and health-related fields. The university is widely known for preparing students for professional study, including medicine, pharmacy, and other STEM pathways. Its academic profile also includes liberal arts and business offerings.

For CLEP and transfer credit purposes, Xavier University of Louisiana evaluates prior learning and outside coursework through its academic policies rather than guaranteeing blanket acceptance of all exam scores or transfer credits. Students should expect credit decisions to depend on the specific exam, score, course equivalency, and degree program requirements. The university’s policies are designed to support transfer students while preserving academic standards.

Students may also have options involving CLEP®, DSST, AP, ACE, or NCCRS credits, depending on XULA's current policies. Not every alternative credit source is automatically accepted, so verify eligibility before completing a course or exam.

Approved credits may count toward general education, major requirements, electives, or other degree requirements depending on the evaluation. Xavier University of Louisiana transfer credits should therefore be reviewed against the specific degree program.
