CLEP Exams at Mountwest Community and Technical College

Mountwest Community and Technical College is a public community and technical college in Huntington, West Virginia. It serves students in the Huntington area and the surrounding region with career-focused and transfer-oriented education. The college is part of West Virginia's public higher-education system.

Mountwest offers associate degrees, certificates, and workforce training in a range of applied and academic fields. Its programs are designed to support students who want to enter the workforce directly or continue on to a four-year institution. As a community and technical college, it emphasizes accessible education and practical training.

For CLEP and transfer-credit purposes, Mountwest is a college where students may be able to use prior learning or exam-based credit, but acceptance depends on institutional policy and the specific course or program. Students should confirm in advance whether CLEP scores, transfer coursework, or other credit-by-exam options will apply to their intended program. Policies can vary by department and by the receiving institution if credits are later transferred.

Students may also have options involving CLEP®, DSST, AP, ACE, or NCCRS credits, depending on MCTC's current policies. Not every alternative credit source is automatically accepted, so verify eligibility before completing a course or exam.

Approved credits may count toward general education, major requirements, electives, or other degree requirements depending on the evaluation. Mountwest Community and Technical College transfer credits should therefore be reviewed against the specific degree program.
