CLEP Exams at Utah Valley University

Utah Valley University is a public university in Orem, Utah, in the Salt Lake City metropolitan area. It serves a large commuter and residential student population and is one of the major public institutions in Utah County. The university is known for broad access and a mission centered on student success and workforce preparation.

UVU offers a wide range of undergraduate programs and selected graduate programs across areas such as business, health, engineering, education, the arts, and the sciences. It is also known for career-oriented and applied learning opportunities, including internships, clinical experiences, and other hands-on pathways. As a large public university, it provides many options for students seeking either transfer preparation or direct entry into professional fields.

For CLEP and transfer-credit purposes, Utah Valley University is generally a transfer-friendly institution, but credit acceptance depends on the specific exam, score, and how the credit fits the student’s program. Students should expect that CLEP credit is evaluated according to university policy and may apply differently across departments and majors. Because policies can change, the safest approach is to confirm current exam-credit equivalencies with the university before testing.

Students may also have options involving CLEP®, DSST, AP, ACE, or NCCRS credits, depending on UVU's current policies. Not every alternative credit source is automatically accepted, so verify eligibility before completing a course or exam.

Approved credits may count toward general education, major requirements, electives, or other degree requirements depending on the evaluation. Utah Valley University transfer credits should therefore be reviewed against the specific degree program.
